9 Tasks on Your December Checklist
Therapists, ready to take your online practice to 6 figures next year?
Here’s 9 tasks I’m prioritizing this December to start 2026 off on the right place as an online therapist (and I can do it all from the coziest corner of my home office):
1. Updating Policies - I’m updating some of my practice policies and sending to current clients
2. Raising Fees - if you don’t give yourself a raise, no one else will! I raise my rates annually to keep up with inflation and my clients are aware of this from the very first session
3. Reviewing Tax Info - I’m reviewing my quickbooks and making sure my business docs are ready for my CPA first thing Jan 1st
4. Adding Last Minute Business Expenses - If you have a conference you’ve been eyeing in 2026 (perhaps our Chronic Illness Therapists Conference in Atlanta?) or looking to replace your work laptop, now might be the time to buy so you can deduct it for your 2025 taxes
5. Booking New Photos for 2026 - If you haven’t had new professional photos in some time, book now before photographers book up in Spring (I try to do mine semi-annually)
6. Setting Up Your Out-of-Office Response - Scheduling my email and voicemail for when I’ll be out for the holidays
7. Blocking Out Time Off for 2026 - It’s happened way too many times where I’ve accidentally scheduled clients on a day I mean to take off. This year, I’m blocking off those days in advance, including all holidays and time to prep AND recover after conferences and vacations
8. Sending Out Evaluations - I’m sending out annual evaluations for my clients to check on their goals and feedback for therapy. Download my free end-of-year feedback form below.
9. Celebrate the WINS this year - hey, in New Orleans we love any reason for a party! But there’s is some real psychological science happening. Celebrating when things go right helps you balance any negativity bias/rejection sensitivity and helps you remember that your hard work is paying off (even when it doesn’t feel like it!)
Want to add that extra “high-end” service touch to your practice so you clients can leave for the holidays feeling excited to see you again in January?
Download my free “Therapy Feedback Form” (yup the exact one I use in my own online private practice) to send out to your clients at the end of the year to help your clients reflect on their progress and feel heard in therapy.
